While in Tallinn, I spent a lot of time browsing the many music channels provided in the hotel, one being German channel Viva. I got to quite like this song, called Stadt by Cassandra featuring Adel Tawil (from German Prison Break Anthem fame). The official video wont embed, but here's the song for now...

Sind Wir Allein?

So I heard today that this great German tune, Allein Allein by Polarkreis 18 is going to get a UK release. So just doing my part to spread the word. I really like this tune. There's something magically anthemic about it. I have a really strong memory of walking through Turku late-ish one night back in February when it would actually get dark, and this came on the ipod just as it started to snow. I just remember looking up to the skies as the hauntingly pretty chorus kicked in. Magic.

Let Yourself Drift

I came across this video on youtube today. It appears that Tokio Hotel have a new song. Its called 1000 Meere (or 1000 Oceans). This song does remind me a lot of Durch Den Monsoon (Through The Monsoon, another water-based theme - do you think Bill wanted to be a sailor as a child?), but its a lot less whiny and more mature, given that his voice broke a while ago. The lyrics arent half bad actually. I post the German version just because I don't like their English stuff, the way they translate the songs almost directly makes for some dodgy rhyming. But if you click the video you can read a translation in the video description.

Edit: Looking again at the video description, its been on youtube since November, so not a very 'new' song afterall. Still, its new to me :)

Return From Vienna!

So I return safely from a lovely 6 days in Vienna. I had a fabulous time, got a bit of tan (that I hope stays), saw some lovely sights, and ate lots of lovely food. Vienna's a lovely city and the holiday went without a hitch really - partly due to the fact my friend became our personal tour guide for the week! We even had a spontaneous day trip to Bratislava. None of us knew anything about Slovakia (EU? Euro? Language!?) so that was an adventure, hehe. Have been taking notes, and once I get the photos off my friend I will be posting about some highlights.

Will just end with a new song that I heard out there from a band I quite like. They are called Die Ärzte, and have been around for decades. This is a fairly poppy song from them, called Lasse Redn. From what I can tell, its just about doing what you like and letting the people talk as they have nothing better to do. Could be wrong though, my Germans still needs perfecting, hehe.
